Hello!

My name's Erika (she/her). I'm a Registered Social Service Worker, Psychotherapist based in Trenton, ON (#853610). I'm the owner of Care Connect Psychotherapy & Counselling Services and am extremely humbled to have a therapeutic space in the Bay of Quinte area.

As a therapeutic practitioner with lived experience, I’m passionate about guiding people through the unique process of self-discovery, personal growth, and healing. I am a queer, first-generation adult child of Hungarian immigrants. I am also a cycle breaker of intergenerational trauma. I integrate these aspects of my lived experience into the work I do with those under my care.

Complex trauma has taught me a lot about myself, and while my journey was a difficult one, having experienced abuse, estrangement, and deep shame throughout my life, from childhood to adulthood, I continue to THRIVE.

I have over 6 years of experience working in this supportive field, with my teachings deeply rooted in non-traditional therapy, counselling, and healing (thank you, Toronto Rape Crisis Centre, for the bounty of wisdom you provided me). At TRCC, I was a gender-based violence crisis line counsellor, supervisor, line coordinator, F2F peer counsellor, and court accompaniment worker. I also spent several years supporting dual-diagnosis individuals as a residential support worker and counsellor, giving my unconditional care to at-risk adults navigating intellectual and developmental challenges such as FASD, ASD, ODD, Antisocial personality disorder, and Schizophrenia.

I proudly serve on the Board of Directors for the Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District (SACQD). These many experiences shaped my quality of care and have provided me the understanding and empathy to support in countless ways.

My Therapeutic Style

I offer a flexible, integrative approach that invites creativity, curiosity, and connection into the healing process. At the heart of my therapeutic approach is a deep belief in meeting you exactly where you are, with compassion, curiousity, and collaboration. I draw from a range of trauma-informed modalities to support your healing in ways that feel accessible, empowering, and aligned with your unique needs. Depending on what feels right for you, our work together might include:

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – Building practical skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Somatic Mindfulness – Deepening your connection to your body’s wisdom through gentle awareness practices, grounding techniques, and supportive movement.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) – Working gently with the different “parts” of yourself to foster self-compassion, inner harmony, and a deeper understanding of your emotional world.

Art Making – Exploring emotions, experiences, and inner landscapes through creative expression, no art skills required — just openness to the process.

You are always an active participant in shaping the therapeutic space — whether that means incorporating creative processes, focusing on skills-building, exploring deeper emotional work, or simply having a space to be witnessed without judgment.
